The emerging logistics hub located in the center of Central Asia

In 2009, Korean Air, the world’s number one cargo carrier, took over the management of the airport and, under the 10-year development plan, further accelerated the modernization program. Construction of the largest air cargo terminal in Central Asia that can handle 100,000 tons of cargo annually using latest equipment has been recently completed and inaugurated on August 12, 2010. The freighter apron has also been constructed to accommodate five B747-400 planes and four additional fuel tanks were built, which can supply 1.4 million gallons of aviation fuel altogether and fill up more than twenty five(25) B747-400 airplanes. In the beginning of 2012 airport started reconstruction and expansion plan of fuel tanks territory.
There has been significant change in ramp and cargo operation as well. All modern ground equipments and vehicles, such as high loaders, forklifts, tug cars and cargo dollies, were introduced and, as a result of consistent and systematic training by Korean Air, ramp and cargo handling skills have been upgraded to the level of Korean Air Cargo in Incheon Airport. Now, the airport is capable of handling more than 15 fully loaded B747-400 cargo flights daily and is already the 2nd to none in the central Asia for the cargo and ground operation.
In August, 2011 airport commenced reconstruction plan of Passenger Terminal and in June, 2012, New Passenger Terminal started its passenger handling activities. Now Pax-Terminal consists of two Terminals, Terminal 'A' for domestic flights, Terminal 'B' for international flights, and is able to handle 400 passengers per hour.
Navoi Airport development is state infrastructure project along with Navoi Free Industrial Economic Zone (FIEZ) that is receiving unprecedented support from government. Working in cooperation with FIEZ, the airport will contribute to economic development of the country, foster welfare of its people and even further contribute to infrastructure enhancement of Uzbekistan and Central Asia. It will be playing a vital role not only within the macro environment of transportation in Central Asia, but also in the process of increasing the quality of life of its regional economies directly participating in wealth creation. More importantly, Navoi Airport is foreseen to enhance international trade between Europe and Asia and re-create the Great Silk Road that used to feed nations across the world. Unlike its predecessor, however, new Silk Road will combine ground, rail and air transportations making it truly global.
At the dawn of 21st century, Navoi Airport Logistics Hub will determine a new path of global business through Central Asia. Welcome to Global Standard Logistics Hub.
